The Trophée des Arts Gala, a dazzling black tie dinner at landmark Gotham Hall, paid tribute to distinguished individuals whose achievements exemplify The French Insititute Alliance Francaise organization’s mission to promote a better understanding between the French and American peoples.
This year, they celebrated award-winning director JAMES IVORY. The Trophée des Arts is awarded each year to an accomplished artist or cultural icon whose career has enhanced French-American friendship. In over forty years as the head of Merchant Ivory Productions, Mr. Ivory has created an unparalleled collection of films that have captured the spirit of La Belle France.
The Pilier d’Or recognized a leading business figure, diplomat or philanthropist for outstanding contributions to the French American Community. The 2007 Pilier d'Or honored PIERRE BELLON, Chairman of the Board & Founder of Sodexho, the world leader in food & management services.
This annual gala,was an elegant evening of celebration, fine dining, and gracious company in a magical setting, raised funds to support the cultural and educational programs of the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF). A Total of more than $800,000 dollars,were raised for the educational and cultural programs of FIAF.
