Established
in 1998, the alliance of hedge fund industry professionals committed to
protecting our children from abuse and neglect. We invite you to join our
group of money managers, investors, prime brokers, attorneys, accountants
and information providers to raise funds through annual Open Your Heart
to the Children Benefits in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Atlanta, Boston,
Denver, Toronto, London and the Cayman Islands. Funds are distributed locally
to community based nonprofit organizations. These organizations provide
prevention services to children and families who are at-risk for abuse and/or
neglect, and treatment to children who have been victims of abuse.
Because of the shame associated with child abuse, it remains a dramatically under-resourced and rarely discussed problem. However, the maltreatment of children is a national tragedy with staggering financial and social costs that extend far beyond broken bones and damaged psyches. The children most at risk for abuse are under the age of three, but the trauma continues throughout adulthood. Children who are abused and neglected are more likely to abuse drugs and alcohol as teenagers and adults, suffer from mental illness, and become involved with the criminal justice system. The price tag for this suffering costs the United States upward of $24 billion each year.
Mr Rob Davis the Founder of the Hedge Funds Care, thanked everybody for
attending,he then went on to say,he is very committed to helping the Children
and the organizations who help the kids who have been sexually and domestically
abused. He also said he has not known an organization who has received more
then enough funding, for their projects, and a social worker who was ever
over paid for the service they offer.
Mitchell Lieberman and Robert Schultz who were the Co-Chairs for The Committee
of Hearts, they went on to say over $15 Million Dollars has been raised
since the Hedge Funds Care has been in existence,to support activities focused
on strengthening families and saving children from the trauma of abuse and
neglect. Together we have distributed over 250grants awards ranging from
$10,000 to $250,000 to community based non – Profit organizations
providing these critical services.
Special guest and Speaker was Kurt Eichenwald,a senior writer and investigative
reporter at the New York Times.Mr Eichenwald spoke about Child Pornography,
and a very touching story about one of the kids he interviewed and which
led to the front page article in The New York Times on December 19th 2005.
Mr Davis introduced the Honoree for the night,Tonight we are pleased and
honored to present the Hedge Funds Care Lifetime Award for Caring to Joel
press of Ernst & Young, not only for what he has meant to the Hedge Fund
industry but for his tireless support of Hedge Funds and many other important
