Connecticut  Marine Time Inc Shipping 2010 conference

The Connecticut Maritime Association is a non-profit organization built by its members for its members. It is an Association made of individuals representing every aspect of shipping and international trade. The CMA produces an extremely varied schedule of events and information tools: Monthly Luncheons: usually held on the last Thursday of each month, feature industry speakers and provide useful networking time, Job Mart: a posting of both job vacancies and candidates appearing in both the monthly Newsletter and on the website. This service has proved invaluable for members and for the industry,
 

Annual Conference & Trade Show: the CMA's "Shipping"event, held each March in Stamford, Connecticut has gained a reputation as the premier shipping gathering in North America and a "must-attend" event on the business calendar. A dynamic and topical seminar program, combined withcutting edge exhibits and an enormous range of networking opportunities attracts over 1,700 major domestic and international industry players each year. The event culminates in the Commodore Gala Dinner, where an individual, selected by the CMA Board, is presented with the CMA Commodore Award in recognition of outstanding contribution to the maritime industry.
 

Close to two thousand people attended the CMA , conference and the exposition , The Conference opened up with an welcome by Beth Wilson-Johnson.., President of Connecticut Maritime Association (CMA) , there was hundreds of vendors exhibiting there services and products to over two thousand major domestic and international industry players , many seminar and panels took place over the three day period.., titled: The State of the Industry Ship owning: More than just freight with speakers like Dr. Hermann J. Klein, Germanischer Lloyd AG and Chairman, International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) The value of trade associations engaging in a global environment, Capt. Robert E. Johnston, Vice Chairman, INTERTANKO, Nicholas A. Pappadakis, Chairman, INTERCARGO, Spyros M. Polemis, Chairman, International Chamber of Shipping, Roberto Giorgi, President, V.Ships and Chairman, InterManager.and many more panels took place you can view them in detail at http://www.shipping2010.com  

The following people were honored throughout the Conference: Ms Carleen Lyden-Kluss, President, of NY/NJ Propeller Club & North American Marine Environment Protection Association (NAMEPA), received a special Certificate of Merit from the US Coastal service organization for her continued work with NAMEPA), which she richly deserved ,also Ms Pamela C. Conover, President &CEO of The Yachts of Seabourn and WISTA Personality of the Year, Touts Commitment to High Standards and Excellence at Shipping 2010,Ms Conover went on to say “I feel very lucky to have had the opportunities to work in this industry, because I love it. It is so important that you really enjoy what you are doing because then you will be prepared to invest the energy and resources it takes to make it a success.” Ms. Conover stated. “Very early on, I realized that one of the keys to success is to surround yourself with talented people. A group of people working together can achieve a lot more than one person working alone” she told the sold out crowd of over 200 women and men. Patriotic Frenchman Philippe Louis-Dreyfus was given the CMA Commodore award the highest award presented by the Connecticut Marine Time Inc.
